V-Chip Champion Chosen as Gore Vice Presidential Running Mate
Tri-Vision International Ltd./Ltee (TSE:TVL.) welcomes the high profile that will likely be given both the v-chip technology and entertainment violence flowing from the recent appointment of Senator Joseph Lieberman, the co-author of the U.S. v-chip law (New Telecommunications Act of 1996), as Vice Presidential running mate to Al Gore and from the Democratic Convention now underway in Los Angeles. The convention should draw the v-chip back into the spotlight along with further discussions about television violence and the ratings system.
The Democrats have outlined their position in public presentations stating, "parents and the entertainment industry must accept more responsibility. Many parents are not aware of the resources available to them, such as the V-chip technology in television sets and Internet filtering devices that can help them shield children from violent entertainment. These positions are expected to surface again during the present Democratic Convention.
