CANBERRA, Jan 10 AAP - State authorities must beef up national park management to helpprevent bushfires, Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson said today.

Mr Anderson, the acting prime minister, will visit fire-ravaged districts on the NSWsouth coast tomorrow.

"If we can coordinate a smoother, more streamlined approach to fighting bushfires,preventing their incidence in the first place, or reducing their incidence, that wouldbe a good thing," he told ABC Radio.
