NSW: Work resumes but coal dispute continues
SYDNEY, Jan 15 AAP - Illawarra coal miners returned to work today after a five-day
strike, no closer to resolving a dispute over wages and working conditions with their
employer BHP.
The miners want assurances that BHP will not introduce 12-hour shifts, bring in contract
labour, or change the seniority chain which means the last employed is the first to go
under retrenchments.
They also want a 15 per cent pay increase and contributions to a superannuation fund,
Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) south-western district …
