JOHN C. BRIGGS, II.(CAPITAL REGION)

CLIFTON PARK -- John C. Briggs, II, of Clifton Park was stricken at home Saturday morning August 22nd. Mr. Briggs was born in 1920 on the Briggs summer homestead which was constructed in Quaker Street, NY in 1828. He grew up in Duanesburg, the son of the late Walter Wemple Briggs and Alice Knight-Briggs, and with his sister, the late Martha Briggs Lawton. He attended Schenectady public schools, and later graduated from Rhodes Preparatory School, New York City. An outstanding athlete, he was offered by Connie Mack a contract with the Philadelphia Athletics Baseball organization following high school.
